The form of this 150-year-old walnut bench is much older; and can be found in descriptions dating to the early middle ages. The product of successive generations of improved forms, the table is a kind of all-purpose surface, with clamps, holders, and surfaces that were used for activities as varied as woodwork, cooking, and preparing herbs.
