Harvey Otis Young (November 23, 1840 – May 13, 1901) was an American painter and prospector, known for his influence on the Denver art scene. Born in Lyndon, Vermont, he left for California in 1859, seeking fortune in gold mining. After years of prospecting, Young turned to art, moving to San Francisco in 1866, where he gained recognition for his landscape paintings. He later settled in Colorado, where he became a founding member of the Artists' Club of Denver, which evolved into the Denver Art Museum. Young’s work is held in prominent museums in Colorado, celebrating his legacy as a Western artist.
