This finely crafted inlaid music box features a 13-inch cylinder by Jacot & Son, a respected 19th-century maker of Swiss music boxes with showrooms in New York. The mechanism plays interchangeable cylinders—five are included—using precision steel combs and damper brushes for rich, orchestral sound. Jacot’s patented “safety check” governor mechanism ensured smooth performance, making their boxes among the finest of their era.
The music box is presented on its original, decoratively inlaid stand, which also serves as a storage cabinet for the extra cylinders. A rare and complete example of Victorian-era mechanical entertainment.
