Brad Teare Grand Monument Oil on canvas 48 × 60 in. (121.9 × 152.4 cm) Frame: 51 1/2 × 63 3/4 in. (130.8 × 161.9 cm) Merging painterly brushstrokes and vibrant color into one marvelous composition, Teare brings spectacle and wonder into his depiction of the Western American landscape. Compelled by "a desire to infuse oil paint with even more texture and vibrating color," the artist turns to the breathtaking rocky cliffside of Monument Valley in Arizona and Utah.
Brad Teare began his successful career as an illustrator for publishers at the New York Times and Random House, making book covers for authors such as James Michener, Anne Tyler, and Alice Walker. Drawn to the great American landscape, Teare moved to Providence, Utah in 1994 and turned to painting iconic scenes of the American west.
