French Ormolu and Porcelain Mantel Clock
France, late 19th century
Gilt bronze (ormolu), enamel-decorated porcelain, and Japy Frères clock movement
17 1/4 × 11 × 7 in.

This richly decorated mantel clock combines deep cobalt-blue porcelain with hand-painted floral panels and raised gilt detailing in the Sevres style. A central urn, adorned with turquoise beading and classical motifs, crowns the case. The movement is by Japy Frères, one of the most prominent and innovative French clockmakers of the 19th century, known for their precision and fine engineering.

Set within a Louis XVI-style gilt bronze base with garlanded mounts, this clock exemplifies the refined taste and mechanical excellence of Belle Époque France.
