Jim Rennert (American, b. 1958)
Rock Climber
Bronze
20 ½ × 14 × 10 in.
Born in Las Vegas and raised in Salt Lake City, Jim Rennert worked in business for a decade before turning to sculpture in 1990. He cast his first bronzes at a foundry in Lehi, Utah, in 1992, launching a career devoted to figurative works that emphasize action and movement.
Rock Climber portrays an athlete scaling a vertical rock face, his body stretched in concentration and physical exertion. Rennert’s figurative style emphasizes the muscular tension and balance of the human form, capturing both the challenge of the climb and the determination of the individual. By merging the figure with the textured rock, the work becomes both a study of athletic achievement and a metaphor for perseverance in life.
