The Muse Euterpe

A fine bronze, cast by the renowned French foundry Barbedienne, of the mythical Greek muse Euterpe. The nine Muses were each daughters of Zeus and led by Apollo, the God of light and truth. Each Muse was responsible for inspiring mortals with specific gifts. Euterpe, here shown with her emblematic aulos (i.e. ancient fluted instrument), was the Muse of song and poetry.
