Dutch Delft Five-Piece Garniture
De Drie Klokken (The Three Bells Factory), Delft, late 18th century
Tin-glazed earthenware
Tallest: 12 in.

This blue and white garniture—comprising three covered baluster vases and two open vases—was made in the late 1700s at the De Drie Klokken (Three Bells) factory in Delft, Netherlands. Each piece is hand-painted with charming scenes of a farmer in a peaceful Dutch countryside, framed by floral motifs and scrollwork.

Delftware was a popular and more affordable European alternative to imported Chinese porcelain, prized for its decorative appeal and versatility. Sets like this one were often displayed on mantels or sideboards in elite European homes.

A nearly identical garniture was sold at Christie’s in The Collection of Ann & Gordon Getty: Wheatland, on October 19, 2023, underscoring the continued desirability of such works among collectors.
