On an old wooden table, its edges notched and coloured from years of use, sit a grouping of metal containers and vessels of various colours and textures. Stills' use of an overall warm palette against a dark ground, his dramatic representation of light and dark contrasts and a well-balanced composition give life to ordinary everyday objects. This professional experience has been inspired by methods from Old Masters and comes together to create works that not only replicate a photographic depiction of the subject, but expand that depiction to a hyper-reality that appears better than life-like. Signed "Aaron Stills" in bottom right corner, with artist's marks on reverse. The framed size of the painting is 26.5 x 31 inches.
Largely self-taught, Stills has been painting professionally since 2001 when he was introduced to still life and landscape painting with brief training at the Kings Academy of Art and Salt Lake Art Academy.
