"Spring Day" by Valoy Eaton

Eaton is a traditionalist painter specializing in mountain and rural landscapes of his home state of Utah, and his work is collected throughout the state and the West.  Vern Swenson, director of the Springville Museum of Art, in his essay in Utah Art, says, “It could be argued that Valoy Eaton and V. Douglas Snow were . . . the most significant landscapists in Utah in the 1980s.”  Eaton earned an MFA degree in painting from Brigham Young University in 1971.  He moved from Salt Lake City to the mountain country near Heber, Utah in the mid-1970s, but later returned to Vernal.  Eaton has been represented in Utah principally by the F. Weixler Gallery, Salt Lake City, but other dealers, such as Williams Fine Art and David Ericson Fine Art offer his paintings.
