American artist Walter Rane earned his BFA from Art Center College of Design, where he studied figure drawing and excelled in the traditional approach to drawing the human form. During the early 1990s, The Church of Jesus Christ asked him to create works of art on religious themes, painting scenes from the Book of Mormon and events from the life of Jesus Christ. Rane's work has been exhibited on the East and West Coasts, and Utah, and he has permanent collections at the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City, Utah; the Springville Museum of Art in Springville, Utah; and Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, Virginia. For years he has travelled to the Middle East to capture the landscapes of the Holy Land as backdrops for his renowned commissions.
