Moonlite on Silver Lake, Cottonwood Canyon, Utah by Alfred Lambourne

Moonlight reflects softly off of a calm lake, illuminating the still mountainous landscape and shoreline and providing an air of mysticism in this quiet landscape painting by Alfred Lambourne (1850 - 1926). Lambourne was an English-born American painter who immigrated with his family and the Mormon pioneers to the American West in the 1860s. Lambourne, a primarily self-taught artist, was a romantic realist landscape painter of the Rocky Mountain School who painted panoramic pictures of natural scenery in the western United States.
