L. Alliot French Bronze of Mother with Children
Lucien Charles Edouard Alliot (1877-1967) depicts a mother, exuding strength and love, at the centre of this figural bronze grouping, a smile captured on her face as she lovingly looks upon the infant feeding at her breast, while three young children vie for her attention - one lays against her side, another buries her head into her mother's hip, while the third has clasped his arms around her shoulders and clings to her back. Signed "L. Alliot".
Born in Paris in 1877, Lucien Alliot was the son of sculptor Napoleon Alliot. A pupil of Barrias and Coutan, he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1905 until 1939 and was a member of the Jury from 1934 until his death in 1967.
