Japanese Satsuma Gilt Brass-Mounted Porcelain Bowl
$1,250.00
A elegant Japanese gilt bronze-mounted porcelain bowl of round form decorated in the late nineteenth century Satsuma style. The finely crackled ivory-bodied piece is painted with a multi-coloured enamel palette of iron-red, bluish green, a soft purple black, and a yellow. A brocade motif, enhanced with painted gilding, decorates the rim of the bowl and borders the central image of three figures set against a large tree in the foreground, and an expanse of water and sky in the distance. The bowl is encompassed within a pierced and stylized gilt brass mount with dragon handles and a four-legged base terminating in scrolled feet.
