A Greco-Italic terracotta Amphora with cylindrical neck with two side handles, of a globular form with the body tapering into a cylindrical pointed spike at its base. The Amphora is supported on wrought iron conical tripod stand.
This type of vessel was used in the late Greek or Roman era, the 3rd century B.C., to transport wine along ports in the Mediterranean Sea. The Greco-Italic amphorae had a greater capacity than the earlier type that were used. They bear witness to the increased amounts of wine shipped near the end of the 3rd century B.C., as wine production became one of the main sources of investment for Romans.
