18th Century Italian Commode Highly Carved


Created by Luigi Mastrodonato (1846 - 1918) active in Naples. Chest of drawers in molded and richly carved walnut heads of figures in high relief in medallions, friezes of natural flowers and foliage, and stylized naturalistic ornaments. It opens with three rows of drawers. Amounts with detached columns. Chiseled brass ornamentation on the drawers. Side sculpted with lizards, medallions, crosses and natural flowers and insects. One side bears the mention "MASTRODONATO FECE", the other the mention "NAPOLI MDCCCLXXX (1880)"
