French Louis XV-style Inlaid and Ormolu-mounted Vitrine


A French Louis XV-style (Napoleon III) vitrine covered in figured veneer panels with inlaid details in contrasting woods. Below the rounded pediment is an inlaid panel of conforming shape with a delicately scrolling foliate motif, above a glazed panel door with locking key and cartouche with marquetry inlay of foliate sprays, which opens to reveal a display compartment with three glass shelves, all raised on short splayed feet with finely chased gilt bronze ormolu mounts, with further conforming rocaille ormolu embellishments on the shoulder of the case and centred on the apron. Measures: 71 ¼ x 32 ¾ x 16 inches.
