He Came and Healed (c. 1900) by Jozef Karel Frans Posenaer
A graduate and then professor of at the Academy of Fine art in Antwerp, Posenaer was awarded scholarship to Rome. He returned to Antwerp to create several large-scale religious works that reflected his interest in both traditional regional masters, such as Jan van Eyck and in contemporary religious artists, like James Tissot. During WWI, Posenaer and his family were refugees. His contributions were so highly considered that a main street was named after him and, in 2011, a retrospective of his work was held in Antwerp.
