French Marble Cassolette with Ormolu (c. 1860)
A pair of French red and white breche marble and ormolu lidded urns, each of baluster form and raised on an unadorned plinth. The body is decorated with ormolu swags of garlands between solid gilt bands, above an adorned base with a bottom berried laurel band. A gadrooned rim supports the lid with an acanthus leaf embellishment, topped with a gilt pine cone finial.
