Shiva, the Supreme God, of Hinduism represents the highest level of being. He is limitless, transcendent, unchanging and formless. In this statue, he is represented sitting on a blossoming lotus with three faces. The three faces represent the God's simultaneous presence in His inner world, the immediate world, and the wider world.
