Watercolor on Paper
Born in Utah, James T. Harwood (American, 1860-1940) was trained in Paris at the prestigious Academy Julien and had works accepted the Paris Salon of 1892. Harwood’s work was remarkably varied. His early years in Paris were marked by a preference for classical subjects and naturalism. Later, as he travelled between the Western United States, California, and to Southern France, Harwood's works became increasingly impressionistic. In this watercolor, he paints a favourite subject, the Great Salt Lake.
