A Pair of English Embroidered Mahogany Fire Screens

Two very fine English fire or hearth screens dating from the third quarter of the nineteenth century. Each embroidered silk screen is encased in and attached to a three-footed stand of figured mahogany. The screens shield from the heat of the fire and are adjustable both by pivoting on the stand and moving up and down.
