A Pair of Empire Portrait Urns


A pair of nineteenth century baluster-form urns "Nymphen" & "Der Fruhling" mounted with double eagle-head handles and each hand-painted on the front and back with idyllic portraits of women surrounded by putti, tapering to a carved foliate band above an acanthus leaf-carved stem on a cerulean blue and gilt socle and square base. The urns are fitted with a gilt final and cerulean blue and gilt detailed lid. Measures: 18 ½ x 10 x 6 ½ inches.
