A Monumental Portuguese Cabinet for Saint with the Crest of the Royal Family
Extensively veneered in burl mahogany and inlaid with brass, pewter, and turtle shell (i.e. Boule marquetry), the base is in the form of a console table with white marble top and cabriole legs. The upper portion is a large, glass paned cabinet with scalloped carved surrounds, sided with corinthian columns and topped with four gilt-wood torches. The red, silk-lined interior houses a saint in luxurious dressed in velvet and gold embroidery.
