On an onyx and finely detailed cloisonné base, a Turkish man leads an oversized ostrich with an encased clock on its back. Through the beveled glass panels of the case, the clock face depicts the name of the Parisian manufacturer of this sculptural piece, Alphonse Giroux, while the inner workings of the clock can be viewed through the back panel. Enameled bronze fittings surround the base of the clock.
