A French Directoire Mantle Clock of Cupid and Psyche
Dating from the last decade of the eighteenth century, this ormolu clock with silk-suspension movements is topped with the figures of Eros (i.e. Cupid) holding Psyche who has just finished the trials that proved her devotion to the God of Love.
