19th Century Rheinpreussen German Stoneware Bottle


A German stoneware bottle of tall cylindrical form with a small handle on the shoulder, the neck fitted with a cork stopper, the surface covered with a craquelure glaze. These bottles were used throughout the nineteenth century to transport naturally carbonated spring water from the springs in the Nassau region of Germany. Measures: 11 ¼ x 4 ½ x 3 ¼ inches.
