19th Century Japanese Enamel Vase

A 19th century Japanese enamel vase potted with a tall, waisted neck that tapers into low, angular shoulders. A thin gold enamel band is painted around the lip of the vase, surmounting the image of a gold enamel carp swimming around the shoulders within a stylized water and seaweed design. The richly coloured blue body is decorated with a scroll motif against which crests are flanked with birds.
