A Pair of 17th Century Carved Oak Figural Solomonic Columns

Two William & Mary carved English oak columns with Solomonic twisting and carved with full-relief fruit-and-leaf vines emanating from the base of court figures dressed in period costume. Each column is topped with elaborate Corinthian capitols. The columns once belonged to the diplomat Alexander Weddell, who served as the United States ambassador to Argentina and Spain.
