The Thinker by Auguste Rodin

The Thinker by Auguste Rodin (French, 1840 - 1917) is among the most recognized and admired works of art in the world. The work was conceived by the artist as part of his monumental work "The Gates of Hell," inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. But, with the statue has come to be known more as a stand alone work.  This large cast bronze version, with a beautiful patina, is  stamped "Barbedienne," the name of the famous French firm which acquired rights to produce many of Rodin's works posthumously.
