A Stained Glass Design for Christ Raising Lazarus
An original watercolor created by the artists Thomas William Camm (British, 1839-1912) for a Church commission, c.1880. Camm is considered one of Great Britain's most talented designers of stained glass. Before production on a monumental work of stained glass was begun, Camm would create a series of conceptual sketches. This is a final study shows depicts the stained glass in the final carved stone surroundings. The figures are drawn and in bright watercolors. Christ stands at the center, calling forth the recently deceased Lazarus, who, wrapped in bandages, stands at the far right.
