A pair of hand-carved early 20th century Venetian oversized Blackamoor floor torchieres with hand-painted polychrome details and gilded accents. Each figure stands on an uneven rocky ground holding the torch against their body as they gaze over their left shoulder, a sense of movement captured in their drapery, which, combined, lends an overall dynamic effect to the form. An elegant gilded seven-light candelabra rises above the head of the figure, which is raised on a rococo-style plinth. The torchieres have been fully re-wired and fitted with candle bulbs.
