A finely detailed depiction of a female peasant dressed in simple garments, head wrap and apron, holding a small book in one hand while reaching out with the other. A small bushel of sticks sits at her bare feet. The original spelter figure, signed L. Gregoire, has become the focal point of a two-arm table lamp with gold and silver favrile glass shades of trumpet form and scalloped edges signed Steuben. The addition of tall metal reeds help incorporate the newer design elements of the lamp into the original silhouette of the case bronze figure.
