A Louis XVI-style carved walnut sofa with gros point needlepoint upholstery in the style of Aubusson tapestry. The carved and shaped upholstered back rest, which depicts a hunting scene: men on horseback follow hunting dogs that are cashing a stag through the grounds of a grand estate, leads to scrolled partially upholstered armrests with rosette detailing, above knees carved with cornflowers and a carved skirt with a central floral-filled cartouche offset with scrolling filigree. The broad seat is upholstered with bordered images of delicate bouquets against a maroon ground with scrolling foliage. The sofa is raised on tapering legs with carved moldings, with a red silk upholstered back. Measures: 42 x 56 ½ x 28 x 18 inches.
