19th Century French Louis XV Style Marquetry Bureau Plat with Bronze Mounts


A handsome Louis XV style writing desk having a shaped top with a central ebonized ground inland with marquetry of musical instruments and scrolling florals surrounded by contrasting bands of inlay, which are flanked by trellis patterned marquetry inlay, all framed by a sculpted bronze border. The conforming frieze contains a single inset drawer with inlaid marquetry of floral bouquets and birds, supported on cabriole legs, with bronze foliate mounted knees, that terminate in foliate sabots.
