The Last Wasp by Bill Sturgis
AMERICAN, b. 1983
I'm a huge connoisseur of nature and the natural world. In the fall I like to search for these wasp empires in the trees, some of these paper hives have such character and beauty. The wasps build these hives and use them only to raise there brood through spring straight to fall and then they die off! Leaving one alive, the future queen, which she then finds refuge in a tree or a house or under a rock to hibernate until next spring! These beautiful hives are then abandoned and never used again.
