A tender scene of a young woman and girl caring for a bird. The artist, Paul Seignac, was a leading genre painter of his native France for more than 40 years. His paintings of children and domestic life were regularly featured at the Paris Salon and in leading galleries in London, Paris, and New York. Seignac was born in Bordeaux, he was accepted to the prestigious Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studied with Edouard Picot and took a number of Church commissions before finding his own as a genre painter.
