Japanese Iron Tetsubin Teapot with Cloisonné Lid

This Japanese "tetsubin" teapot--decorated with an attractive uniform dotted surface, a cloisonne lid, and a graceful arched brass handle -- was used to heat water for traditional tea ceremonies. It is thought that the cast iron enhances the flavor of the water and therefore the taste of the tea.
