18th Century French Provincial Louis XV Carved Walnut Bombe Commode
A finely carved late eighteenth century walnut commode in the French provincial Louis XV style particular to Nimes. A rectangular grey marble top sits above a commode of bombe form with carved canted corners flanking three long drawers, each decorated with carved cartouches that frame the scrolling bronze drawer pulls and escutcheons. The shaped apron is carved on three front sides, with the front having a central pierced shell with scrolling foliage, all raised on carved cabriole legs terminating in pads. Measures: 36 x 45 ½ x 20 ½ inches.
